POSITION TITLE: Marketing and Sales Specialist (Member Resources)

POSITION GRADE: TBD

DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Member Resources


POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide day-to-day support of assigned membership marketing projects, including promotional copy preparation and project management activities relating to member and chapter support; and the management of sales activities in support of Appraisal Institute publications, events, and other sponsorship opportunities.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Manager, Membership Retention and Recruitment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

MARKETING
  • Work with Manager, Member Recruitment and Retention and Director of Marketing and Member Resources including: create and implement member recruitment/retention-related communications, including monthly “Featured Member Benefit” e-mails and special all-member broadcast e-mails announcing the latest industry and legislative news.
  • Help ensure consistent branding across all products and marketing communications and work with various teams to ensure a unified and cohesive voice to the members, prospective members and to the industry.
  • Keep AI Service Center staff abreast of all upcoming promotions that may result in customer inquiries and serve as back-up for call center.
  • Assist Manager, Membership Recruitment and Retention, Director of Marketing and Member Resources and other senior staff on PowerPoint presentations, special assignments for national committees/project teams and other communications projects as needed.
  • Assist with chapter assistance programs including broadcast e-mails and faxes, direct mail pieces, etc.
  • Help provide support services to chapters and regions, including maintaining familiarity with chapter financial information and reporting requirements and maintaining thorough knowledge of chapter bylaws.
ADVERTISING SALES
  • Manages and conducts display advertising sales for Valuation Magazine (print and online), Appraiser News Online and the Appraisal Institute Web site. Acts as primary liaison between Valuation advertisers and the Executive Editor. Works with Executive Editor to schedule and place clients’ advertising within respective publication to devise advertising materials deadlines, and to address all other advertising-related issues.
  • Develops sales relationships with both current and potential display advertisers via direct telephone calls, e-mails, special mailings and other methods; continually strives to expand display sales universe. Reports sales activities and progress.
  • Manages and conducts sales effort on behalf of AI events.
  • Perform marketing duties as assigned.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining databases including a database of prospect and a database of new product release contacts.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience required; area experience in marketing, marketing communications, or advertising sales preferred.
  • Ability to interact with sales prospects and organization members.
  • Verbal/written communication and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within deadline and budget constraints.

KNOWLEDGE:

Thorough marketing education; strong administrative and organization skills, strong editing and writing skills; knowledgeable about design, production and tracking process.

EXPERIENCE:

3-4 years of marketing experience that includes sales planning, tracking and direct mail marketing.

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:

Sitting, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, carrying, stooping, reaching, fingering, handling, visual acuity-near, color vision.
