Appraisal Institute Online Education Technical Support
For instructor content questions, log in to your program,
and follow the instructor contact instructions. Your instructor should respond within 24 hours during the week, and 48
hours during weekends and holidays.
It can take up to an hour after you register for the course to become available in your My Appraisal Institute list. If the course is not available after an hour, please e-mail Online Education.
4.The pages aren't linked. Why can't I click on any pages in the first module?
You need to proceed linearly in the seminar. You probably haven't completed the pages in the Introduction module yet, which must be completed before going through Module 1. Go back to the Introduction module and complete those pages, then when you get to Module 1 the first page should be active. You may have to refresh the page to see the active link.
If you have installed any third-party software to block popup
windows (including the Google toolbar), you must disable popup software for all appraisalinstitute.org webpages. View
instructions.
Adjust your cookie settings in Internet Explorer by clicking Tools > Internet Options. At the top of the window, select the Privacy tab. You should see a slider that you can move to multiple positions. The slider should be on the "Medium-High" setting or lower. If it is set to "High" or "Block All Cookies", the quiz questions will not work.
Ensure your security settings in Internet Explorer are OK. Again, click Tools > Internet Options. At the top of the window, select the Security tab. Note the slider on this window. It should be set to "Medium" or lower. If it is set to "High", the quiz questions will not work.
Try disabling Microsofts VM settings in Internet Explorer. Again, click Tools > Internet Options. At the top of the window, select the Advanced tab. Scroll down until you see the "Microsoft VM" group. Uncheck the three boxes under this area if they are checked.
Check to see that you have a recent version of Java installed on your computer. Go to www.java.com and click the "Verify Installation" button. If you have below Version 1.5, you can follow the directions and upgrade. After you have upgraded, you may have to re-start your computer and then login to Online Education again and try to take the quiz.
If you continue to have trouble, try using the Firefox browser or a different computer. You must be connected via broadband access such as DSL or Cable modem.
8. Why am I required to get 80% of the quiz questions correct?
We realize this may seem excessive, but unfortunately, in order to receive approval for our online programs in the majority of the states, we designed it this way. The learning objectives in each module must be mastered to continue to the next module. A quiz at the end of the module will assess your mastery of the learning objectives.
Click the "Discussion" button on the right. The discussion software will open in a new browser window.
Click on "Options" at the top of the screen.
Click on "Mailing Lists".
Follow the onscreen directions.
Alternatively,
you will notice that all emails you receive from a program discussion board contains instructions
at the bottom explaining how you can unsubscribe from the messages. For more information,
please visit our Discussion Conference Help page.
Go to the last page of this module and be sure to fill out the evaluation completely.
12. I completed the evaluation, but still did not receive my completion certificate.
If you completed the seminar evaluation, and did not
receive an email from the Appraisal Institute with your completion
certificate, please check to make sure your anti-spam blocking
software allows emails from the Appraisal Institute. For most
anti-spam programs adding ai@appraisalinstitute.org to the address
book will allow this e-mail thought. If not it should be configured
to allow any email addresses that end in @appraisalinstitute.org.
13. How can I print the program materials?
Our regulators only allow printing of the program materials after a program is completed. There is a link to a printable PDF on the last page of the program.
14. How can I disable my popup blocking software?
Pop-ups are windows that appear automatically and
without your permission. They often display advertising that
can interfere with your ability to see the content on the page
you're trying to read.
A pop-up blocker works with your Internet browser to prevent pop-up
windows from automatically opening when you visit a web site.
Unfortunately, blocking all pop-ups may prevent important
features in our online programs from working. We recommend
that you turn off any pop-up blockers while using our online
education programs.
You can turn on and off most pop-up blockers at any time. You can
also add onlineed.appraisalinstitute.org to an "allow
list." This will allow pop-ups for Appraisal Institute sites,
while blocking pop-ups for all other sites.
