Summary of Role:
As an Instructional Media Designer at the Appraisal Institute, you will be responsible for designing, creating, modifying, evaluating, and overseeing media assets for online and classroom programs aimed at appraiser growth and career development.
Your expertise in instructional media content development and project management, and editorial experience, will play a key role in supporting our mission and ensuring high-quality educational experiences for our audience.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Media Content Development and Support:
- Design and develop on-brand and engaging instructional media content and experiences for both online and classroom settings
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and instructional designers to ensure content is accurate, relevant, up-to-date, pedagogically effective, bug-free, and LMS-compliant
- Use media tools for graphics, typography, animation, audio, and video, including artificial intelligence tools, to author and edit visually appealing and interactive content
Project Management:
- Manage instructional media projects from start to finish
- Develop project plans and timelines
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery of projects
Editorial Experience:
- Review and edit media materials for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Ensure that all content adheres to organizational branding, editorial, and regulatory standards and guidelines
- Provide feedback and guidance to internal and external content creators to improve quality
Evaluation and Improvement:
- Collect and analyze feedback from learners and stakeholders
- Assess the effectiveness of instructional media
- Continuously improve content and delivery methods based on feedback and best practices
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with subject matter experts, program managers, instructional designers, production specialists, and other stakeholders
- Communicate project status and updates to relevant parties
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia design, instructional media design, education, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional media design, preferably in a non-profit or education setting
- Deep knowledge of instructional media design principles and instructional design modelss
- Expertise with design and formatting in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
- Expertise with multimedia design tools, Adobe preferred, including Animate, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Premiere
- Proficiency with media use in learning management systems (LMS), Canvas preferred
- Familiarity and strong interest in e-learning development tools, e.g., Synthesia, Articulate 360, Vyond
- Familiarity and strong interest in using generative artificial intelligence for content development and workflow efficiency
- Knowledge of accessibility, equity, and copyright principles for education design
- Strong editorial skills with experience reviewing and editing instructional media content
- Proven project management skills with experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Flexibility with shifting priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
