Before enrolling in this or any other MAI designation course, you must take a diagnostic test. The Excel diagnostic tests your mastery of solving appraisal problems using spreadsheets. This diagnostic test was intentionally designed to be challenging and ensure participants have adequate Excel skills before taking MAI designation courses. Excel is used extensively in the MAI designation courses; it is highly recommended that you know how to perform the necessary appraisal functions in Excel to succeed in this course.

Program Hours, Materials and Pre-class Session
Onsite check-in will begin at 8:00am on Monday, January 27. "Live / in-person" Instruction will run from 8:30am – 4:30pm (Pacific Time) Monday through Thursday, January 27-30. The 3-hour exam will be administered on Friday, January 31 from 8:30am - 11:30am. Students will be on their own for lunch; numerous eateries are available within easy walking distance of and onsite at Treat Towers.
There is a 2-hour online pre-class session.

Education Credit Hours and Attendance Verifications
Those who check in late, leave early or are not in attendance during non-scheduled breaks may jeopardize receipt of credit.
Appraisal Institute: Full attendance (100%) and successful completion of the exam enables Designated Members, Candidates for Designation and Practicing Affiliates to receive 375 AI CEC points; 275 points for full attendance only (no exam).
BREA Continuing: Advanced Market Analysis & HBU has been approved by the BREA (#10754180) for 30-hours of BREA CEC. Full (100%) attendance required but BREA CEC (continuing education credit) does not require successful completion of the exam.
BREA Basic/Qualifying: Advanced Market Analysis & HBU is not approved BREA qualifying education (QE) credit.
If you are seeking credit for this offering from a state outside of California, check with your state licensing board(s) to make sure an out-of-state offering will be accepted before registering. The Appraisal Institute nor the chapter presenting this program is not liable for lost or damaged items. This includes but is not limited to calculators, laptops, cell phones, etc.
Cancellations
Written cancellations received by Monday, January 13 are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations received after that time but prior to noon on Monday, January 20, are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. No refunds for cancellations received after January 20 or for program "no shows". Cancellations can be emailed to
We reserve the right to substitute instructors, or to cancel or modify this program (adjust hours or location) if sufficient registrations are not received by Wednesday, January 8 or due to other circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation, tuition fees will be refunded. All other costs incurred are the registrant’s responsibility. Those requiring out-of-town travel arrangements should exercise caution in booking non-refundable tickets/reservations.
